“…rather, train yourself to be godly.  For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.”

- 1Timothy 4:7b-8

As a ministry of Crossroads Community Church, we seek to benefit the overall mission of Crossroads which is “to glorify God by reaching the lost and discipling the found.”  Our vision is to accomplish this by using sports and recreational activity as: 1) a bridge to the community on which we can take the transforming grace of God offered through Jesus Christ to the community; and 2) a bond within our congregation by which Gospel-centered relationships are developed and grown.

As we carry out this mission and vision, we strive to proclaim and live out truth that is Christ-centered (Col 1:15-20), Biblically-based (2Tim 3:14-17), and grace-oriented (Eph 2:4-10).  We want to relate to others in a manner that demonstrates servant-leadership (Matt 20:25-28), active love (1Jn 3:16-18), and a respectful readiness (1Pt 3:15-16).  We work to develop activities that are need-based (1Cor 9:19-23), leader-driven (Heb 13:7), and committed to both quality (Col 3:23-24) and stewardship (Matt 25:14-30).

You are encouraged to check out the ministry activities located in the sidebar.  If you have any questions about the ministry, feel free to contact David Peters (Director of Sports & Recreation Ministry) through the Contact Sports and Rec form to the right.

Youth Camps

“…rather, train yourself to be godly.  For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.”

- 1Timothy 4:7b-8

The purpose of our camps goes beyond teaching the fundamental skills, techniques, and rules of sports.  We are committed to giving high quality instruction, but we are also committed to teaching the Gospel faithfully, knowing that it is only through faith in Jesus Christ that we can all live and compete for the glory of God.

We had a great time with all of our camps this year.  A special thanks to the following individuals who worked so hard to teaching these kids what it mean to live and compete for the glory of God.

  • Golf – Sean Bolduc, Mark Nottingham, Brad Smith, Bob Doane, Rob Bell, Treg Harris, and John Monfreda
  • Volleyball – Jeff Wilkins, Kris Skene, and the HSE Boys Volleyball Team
  • Basketball – Michael Gaines, Lauren Vail, Scott Dean, Micah Dean, Jonathan Dean, Pat Whitley, Pat Smits, Eric Pridemore, and Virgil Richie

I hope to have pictures up this week for you to enjoy.  If you have interest in knowing more about our camps and/or being notified about registration for next year, simply fill out the Contact Sports & Rec form to the right.

The time to begin thinking about the Men’s Softball season has arrived.  This is a great opportunity to get to know other men at Crossroads or to invite a friend, neighbor, co-worker, or family member to join you for a summer of great fun and competition.  It is also our desire that we would grow together in our knowledge of and faith in Christ and continue to understand as men what it means to live and compete for the glory of God.  If this sounds good to you, check out the basic info below and sign up using the registration form below!

  • Season:  1st week of May through mid-July

We play one double-header on Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday night each week. The time commitment is 6pm-9pm.
This will involve periodic help with mowing, striping, raking, and other general field maintenance throughout the season. I will contact you to gather availability. I don't anticipate a significant commitment, and I greatly appreciate any help you can give.
