Going to a church for the first time can be intimidating. To help ease your way and answer your questions, we wanted to provide you a summary of what you can expect at Crossroads Community Church. First, while we strive to grow spiritually at CCC, we’re all regular people with everyday struggles—and we all had a first day at church, too. If you don’t understand something, please shoot us an email or give us a call (you’ll find we’re pretty friendly and welcoming).
When and Where
Our first Sunday Morning Worship service begins in the multi-purpose room at 8:30 AM. Arriving 10 minutes early will allow you time to find everything you need and get settled in. We start Sunday School (which runs from just after Labor Day to just before Memorial Day) for all ages at 10 AM. Our second Sunday Morning Worship service begins in the multi-purpose room at 11 AM. (Second service starts at 10:30 a.m. during the summer, May 27th through September 2nd.) You can expect similar worship style for both services. (Need directions?)
Worship Service
Our worship service features a mix of contemporary worship songs and traditional hymns. The Bible-based message aims to explain God’s Word in a way that applies to your life today. Whether you’re looking into Christianity for the first time or have been a Christian for many years, we want to encourage you to draw closer to God through participating in a worshipping community.
Children of any age are welcome in the worship service. However, we do have a great nursery for children ages 3 months up through 3.5 years that includes age-appropriate Bible stories and songs. Older children (ages 3.5 through second grade) begin worship with their parents in the multi-purpose room. After worship, parents have the option of sending their children to our Kids Kingdom ministry (ages 3.5 – Pre-K), our Kids Zone ministry (ages K – 2nd grade), or keeping them in the worship service.
When we pass the collection plate on your first visit, feel free to let it go by. Also, plan on staying for a few minutes after the service for light refreshments and some conversation. Connecting with others is one of the most important parts of church (Hebrews 10:25).
What to Wear
God looks at your heart in worship more than He looks at your clothes (1 Samuel 16:7). He wants us to give Him our best, whether that be dressing formally or coming casually. Don’t let this concern you too much; we have people who dress at both ends of the spectrum.
What We Believe
Our passion at Crossroads is to see lives changed by the good news of Jesus Christ. We exist to share the love of Jesus with all who come, and we would be delighted to talk with you about how to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. (Want to know more about what we believe or how to receive Christ?)
The Rest of the Week
Sunday morning is a great start for connecting with God and others, but it is by no means the end of our ministry week. Opportunities during the week are designed to help you learn more about what it means to follow Jesus: small groups, men’s and women’s Bible studies, youth groups, fellowship events and lots more.
For Those with Disabilities
We welcome you! Our one-level facility and its restrooms are easily accessible for those with disabilities. We have handicapped parking spaces near the front entrance to the building. Please let us know of your needs, and we will certainly try to fill them.
Youth
Junior and Senior High meets for Sunday School every week at 9 AM during the school year, investigating and discussing God’s Word and looking at how it applies to student life. Our youth ministry is led by our Director of Youth Ministries, Mark Shaffer. Our youth group meets every Sunday evening at 6:30 PM at the church. If you want more information about this ministry, please contact Mark.
Infants and Toddlers
Crossroads has three nurseries, equipped with all the supplies needed to help children feel safe and comfortable and have a good time, giving you an opportunity to really focus on the worship service. We view caring for your children as more than glorified babysitting. It’s a chance to help them know more about God and His Word with age-appropriate Bible stories, games and crafts. (Would you like to know more about our kids’ ministries?)
Communion
At Crossroads, Communion (The Lord’s Supper) is a sacred, once-a-month celebration of the loving sacrifice Jesus made on the cross for sinners like us. We celebrate Communion on the first Sunday of every month. It is a remembrance of what He did for us and a welcoming of His ongoing presence and grace in our lives. It’s open to all (3rd grade and older) who have publicly professed their faith in Christ at Crossroads or another gospel-believing church. We offer a Communicant’s Class every fall for children 3rd grade and older so we can teach them the gospel and the meaning of Communion. Then, for those children who are ready, the elders of the church interview them and officially admit them to the Lord’s Table.
When you are a visitor, there are no dumb questions! Please send us an e-mail with your questions, call us, or pull us aside when you visit so we get the right information in your hands to help you discern God’s leading in your life. Please plan to join us on Sunday!
